Shanais Pelka
Owner
Shanais Pelka, farm founder, is a nutritionist, educator, herbalist and health expert. She is passionate about food, herbs, medicinal mushrooms, sustainability and community. When she’s not working on the farm, you can find Shanais hiking with the dogs, hanging with her kids, cooking, fermenting or spending time in the community. Shanais currently works as the Research and Development Manager for a supplement company, where she formulates supplements and manages an education program.
Alaric (Aly) Pelka
Farmer
Alaric Pelka, co- founder of the farm, is originally from Michigan. Alaric studied permaculture and sustainable living in Costa Rica, then went on to utilize her knowledge by managing a variety of organic farms. Alaric is most passionate in helping people heal through nutrition, adventure, and farming. When Alaric is not on the farm, she is working as a Canyoneering Guide! In her free time, she likes to hike, camp, play soccer, mountain bike, and write.
Abria Pelka
Farmer
Abria Pelka is a dancer, farmer, and adventurer. She has danced competitively, as well as taught and choreographed for competitive dance studios. Abria has also traveled all around the United States, Costa Rica, and Chile where she has stayed on farms and learned permaculture and basic carpentry. She enjoys traveling, slacklining, being in nature, caring for animals, and building. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI and grew up most of her life in California.
Felipe Amigo
Farmer
Felipe Amigo is from Chile, South America and is passionate about sustainable agriculture and carpentry. He lived in Australia for 4 years where he studied horticulture and permaculture. When he’s not building or farming, he enjoys DJing, running, and reading. He and his family own a 9-acre farm in Chile where they practice organic agriculture and eco-tourism.
Nala
Head of Security
Nala specializes in chasing off hawks, coyotes, and other
predators. Nala also alerts the farm whenever an unfamiliar face is at our door. Nala is extremely
passionate in keeping our livestock, and us humans, safe and relaxed at all times!
Mila
Backup Security
Mila is backup security on the farm. Whether Nala is out chasing off a fox, or barking at a stranger, Mila
is right there by her side for backup. With Nala and Mila’s pointy, determined ears and incredibly fast
legs, their duo is unstoppable and allows us to free- range all of our animals, and keep our doors unlocked, without concern.
Cooper
Head Herder
Cooper is head of herding on the farm. Cooper spends his days herding the goats and chickens to their respective pastures. When Cooper is not guiding the animals, he enjoys rolling down pastures, and eating scraps.
Charlie
Emotional Support
Charlie is the co- herder in training. As of now, he is our emotional support and nighttime cuddler while he grows up and becomes acquainted to his line of work.
Nutty
Farm Mascot
Nutty is our farm mascot! You can find him licking the salt off your car, itching his body on your legs, and nibbling on your farm tools! He walks the perimeter of our property, never missing an opportunity to greet our guests!
